L’Occitane International S.A. is an international group that manufactures and retails beauty and well-being products. A global leader in the premium beauty market, the Group  is present in 90 countries. It owns five brands – L’OCCITANE en Provence, Melvita, Erborian, L’OCCITANE au Brésil and LimeLife by Alcone. They also provide Hotel Amenities.
By the list of countries they sell to,  Asia is their forte’ with China at the top of the list. Heaven only knows what the rest of the Asian countries that aren’t animal rights friendly allow. (Like South Korea and the dog meat trade)
They are NOT cruelty free.  They don’t guarantee their ingredients are either.
ELEMIS capitalizes on its five strategic distribution channels – digital, retail distribution, QVC, professional spa and maritime. Elemis boasts – “We create formulations that undergo meticulous clinical and consumer testing.”-as well as An unwavering commitment to understanding the relationship between nature and humanity.
Apparently understanding  nature doesn’t mean being kind to animals, for either company.

Is ELEMIS cruelty free?  No.

There are plenty of alternatives to these two companies. Take look at the link below.
