Unilever Acquires Shea Moisture, Nubian Heritage, Madame C.J. Walker and nyako

UnileverUnilever is a big company big on animal testing.  It has research facilities in the United Kingdom (two), the Netherlands, China, India and the United States.

I find Unilever’s  happy little ecosystems logo ironic. I wonder if it’s everything they test on.

Unilever announced that it would acquire one of the largest black-owned personal care product companies, Sundial Brands.

Sundial Brands is home to Shea Moisture, Nubian Heritage, Nubian Heritageand nyako. This deal follows Unilever’s investment in black-owned makeup company Beauty Bakerie earlier this year and Dollar Shave Club in 2016. Unilever confirmed it had reached an agreement to acquire REN Skincare, a British niche skincare brand & Kate Somerville Skincare LLC

But in a promotional video for the Sundial deal, founder Richelieu Dennis promised “the products are not gonna change and we are not selling out.”

That’s fine saying and all but the parent company still tests on animals.
