Niacinamide is a water-soluble vitamin that delivers multiple anti-aging benefits.

Changes in skin color can result from outside causes. Skin diseases such as acne may leave dark spots after the condition clears. Other causes of dark spots are injuries to the skin, including some surgeries. Age or “liver” spots are a common form of hyperpigmentation. They occur due to sun damage. These small, darkened patches are usually found on the hands and face or other areas. Environmental factors such as solar radiation may induce cellular changes that trigger hyperpigmentation. Hyperpigmentation can be caused by sun damage, inflammation, melasma or other skin injuries like blemishes or scars..

Fortunately, there are some effective treatments that will help even the skin tone more rapidly.

Niacinamide, is an amide of vitamin B3 (niacin).  Given a sufficient bioavailability (extent and rate to which the active ingredient is absorbed ), niacinamide has antimicrobial, photo-protective and sebostatic effects (A halt in the production of sebum by the sebaceous oil glands). It also has lightening effects depending on its concentration.  Extensive sebum (oil) production leads to common skin disorders such as acne vulgaris or seborrheic dermatitis. Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) is indicated to reduce the appearance of skin blemishes and congestion.

Niacinamide helps fight discoloration for more evenly toned, luminous skin. Ideal for skin showing signs of uneven pigmentation, discoloration, sun damage, age spots and dark spots.

In a clinical trial, topically applied Vitamin B3 was shown to significantly reduce age spots by inhibiting the transfer of melanosomes needed for melanin production.

Niacinamide is not just for lightening and brightening the skin.

It’s so much more than that. It’s essential for anti-ageing and skin health. Everyone, no matter how old or what skin condition will benefit from the long-term use of this scientifically proven ingredient.
In separate studies, topical Vitamin B3 has also been shown to help retain moisture and boost production of fatty acids and ceramides, improving skin’s barrier function. Plus, Vitamin B3 has been shown to stimulate fibroblasts and collagen. They both help visibly firm skin and reduce the look of wrinkles. In a 4-week consumer trial on Evenly Radiant®, 82% of participants saw improvement in overall color and tone of skin.

In another study twenty-seven melasma patients were randomized to receive for eight weeks 4% niacinamide cream on one side of the face, and 4% Hydroquinone cream on the other. Sunscreen was applied along the observation period.
RESULTS:  All patients showed pigment improvement with both treatments. Good to excellent improvement was observed with niacinamide in 44% of patients.. They showed improvement of solar elastosis in melasma skin. Niacinamide is a safe and effective therapeutic agent for this condition. Solar elastosis is a degenerative condition of elastic tissue in the skin due to prolonged sun exposure. In its most common form, solar elastosis manifests as yellow, thickened,  coarsely wrinkled skin with loss of skin tone.

Why You Should Be Using A Niacinamide Serum on Your Skin

Prevention is always better than a cure.

Preventing things happening to your skin is always better, and when topically applied in serum formulations, Niacinamide (B3) prevents damage to your skin’s immunity cells. It protects your skin from the intensity of the sun, manages the balance of your delicate lipid (oil) barrier and, in turn, reduces redness and irritation caused by years of over exposure to the environment. Niacinamide (B3) will also reduce sensitivity in the skin as well as control or minimize the growth of dark blotchy unruly pigment in your skin.
