Primer: elf  aqua PRIMER MIST

I didn’t get this because I have oily skin. I got it for the quality skin care ingredient higher in the ingredient deck. This was more like skincare to me than a solid waxy barrier. I didn’t want one that felt like a mask.  I do not like to use heavy liquids or creams on my skin in the summer. My skin shifts from combination skin to dry depending on the season. The primers I’ve tried in the past were so thick &  goopy & I had written off primers but this one changed my mind.  As soon as I saw Niacinamide as ingredient I bought it. Niacinamide can be a very pricey ingredient but thankfully with elf it wasn’t!

Niacinamide

Also known as vitamin B3 and nicotinic acid, niacinamide is a very effective skin-restoring ingredient that offers multiple benefits for aging skin. Among these benefits is the ability to visibly improve the appearance of enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, fine lines, dullness, and a weakened skin surface. Niacinamide can also mitigate the damage environmental attack can cause, and is stable in the presence of heat and light.

I only get a bit oily on my nose so I don’t use a primer much unless I am going out and I want my makeup to last way longer. This spray is definitely not a fine mist but as primer I really don’t care since I’m not using it as a finishing spray. It goes on fast & dries in minute or so. I just pat it in and it works! It doesn’t gum up or roll up on my face while putting makeup over it either. It’s perfectly clear so it doesn’t interfere with your makeup color. It’s not tacky or greasy. This is not a pore filling primer. It does have smell although I can’t quite put my finger on what is smells like to me. Both this & the smashbox primer water smell similar however the smell  dissipates fairly quickly.

I Love that I’m actually getting treatment with this primer. If I’m in a super hurry I can skip a step and just spray this on my face. I can then skip my serum (which I rarely do). It is good for a spritz of mild hydration to your face. It’s not super dewy – don’t expect that. I wouldn’t say this is a 12 hour primer though. It works well enough as primer/ skin care hybrid for me. Cruelty Free & vegan.
