13 reasons why facial mists benefit your skin

13reasons

Facial mists range from tonic to moisturizing. From dewey to soothing to vitamin infused to acne busting, there is a facial mist for you. There’s never a better time to try one than now. Here’s why:

“Facial mists can help provide nutrients to your skin,” says Kally Papantoniou, MD,  dermatologist. “Most skin types can benefit from a facial mist,” adds Papantoniou. Facial misting is best done as a first step after cleansing, before moisturizing in the morning and again before bed, says Dr. Papantoniou. “The mist can be used again during the day to freshen up and rehydrate your skin as needed.”

13 reasons why facial mists benefit your skin

Made for every skin type.

Facial mists can be treatments, toners or moisturizers depending on the formulation.

If you are not old enough for a serum or skin oil but want something a little extra, this is what you need!

If you find a spray that contains moisturizer or if you moisturize shortly after you spritz, you can help guard your skin’s moisture level. “For sensitive skin, make sure to either choose a spring water or a hypoallergenic version.”

Fast overall application

A few sprays can cover your whole face, neck and décolleté. Unless it’s a super dewy mist it dries pretty quickly.

Great delivery system.

Thinner consistency soaks in better than heavy thick formulas. I also use it for a little hydration after I wash my face if I don’t want to full-on moisturize.

High vitamin content

This is when you buy a mist that includes vitamins & actives closer to the top of the ingredient list.

Skin soothing

Some mists like DermaE’s Purifying Toner Mist  contain aloe which is skin soothing & has healing properties as well as green tea.  Green Tea antioxidants help fight free radicals, prevent oxidative stress and protect skin from UVA and UVB radiation damage.

Comes in primer formula

One of my favorites is elf’s AQUA BEAUTY PRIMER MIST. I normally hate primers because they can feel like a mask but this doesn’t. This is not a fine mist as it is primer  & because it’s not a skin treatment  It’s lightweight, easy to use, and affordable and I love that it’s a vegan product.

Cooling sensation.

A mist can be cooling ,even more so in summer months when you can refrigerate your formula before spritzing. Spray face, neck, and décolleté both morning and night…and anytime in between for a refresher! Great on a hot day or after workout. It’s also amazing when chilled if you have sunburn!

Aromatherapy

My favorite vitamin mist smells like oranges which I love. It’s so invigorating. The scent of fresh citrus is amazing, it helps wake me up.

Economical & Affordable

Some jars of moisturizer are highly priced and you usually get 1 ounce inside and maybe 2 or 3 active ingredients. Facial mists are larger for less money and often contain many helpful active ingredients.

Won’t clog your pores.

If acne & pimples are your concern you have less worries with a toner facial mist than a traditional lotion moisturizer. Look for those with glycolic acid or witch hazel included for acne. If you have acne-prone skin, use an oil-free spray.

No need for animal ingredients.

Thankfully most vitamins are not animal derived. Everything mentioned here is cruelty free.

Make eyeshadow dazzle.

If you want to make a shimmer eyeshadow appear more shimmery or metallic use mist on your brush after picking up eye shadow on your brush to make it a creamy version of a dry shadow. This can make a shimmer powder eyeshadow glisten.

I recommend the facial mists below because they have really high quality ingredients. They truly are skin care and there’s something for every skin type. Recommended facial mists:
