The world has gone semi- crazy over many things korean beauty.
According to Sarah Lee, K-beauty expert and co-founder of retailer Glow Recipe, the 7 Skin Method is a technique that involves patting seven layers of toner onto your face, one right after the other, in one sitting.
One is supposed to press skin care in with fingers. The most common application method is to wipe the skin with a cotton pad drenched in ‘skin’ or toner first, and patting with hands for the rest of the 6 steps.
The idea behind the 7 layers is that the moisture level of skin can be increased in an efficient and effective way without the heaviness or greasiness that may come from traditional creams and oils. It’s also a great way to hydrate all skin types, providing the optimal balance of hydration and skin’s natural oils with a subtle dewy glow and firmer skin. Skin essences can also be used.
Am I buying that? I don’t know. I haven’t tried it. I’m wondering what actually penetrates the first layer of the epidermis. Is this a waste of product & a huge profit for whoever is recommended their products for this method?
Here’s one of my favorite youtubers doing the 7 Skin Method
Just to reiterate a few points in the video:
– Start off slow with 3 layers work up to 7 if you want
– You don’t have to do this everyday. You can if you want to but it’s not necessary. A few times a week or when you feel your skin needs the extra hydration.
– Avoid astringent ingredients, alcohol or acid toners!
– You don’t need 7 different toners, only 1! But feel free to cocktail!
– Make sure to seal the hydration in with an oil/moisturizer/cream.
Do I plan on trying this? Yes!
First of all I’ll make sure what ever toner I’m using did not include alcohol. Can’t imagine that would be beneficial to the skin. If you are using a toner with witch hazel remember that is about 15% alcohol naturally. I would only use that if I had super oily blemish prone skin.
